If you’ve recently been laid off or are in between jobs, you still have the right to affordable health coverage. But just what are your options?
Firstly, inquire about COBRA coverage, which allows your previous employer to continue your health coverage if you come to be laid off. If your company qualifies for COBRA, find out what you have to do to take advantage of what the program offers.
You can also visit your local unemployment office to learn about the extent of health benefits you may be eligible to receive during your period of unemployment.
Finally, you can call your insurance agent and inquire about available policies for struggling clients. Let them know about your situation, since often telling them what has happened and what you’re doing to fix the situation will get you good coverage for a cheaper price.
But don’t go any longer without taking action. Don’t put your health at risk. There are options and there is something available.

If you’ve just been laid off, you may be worried about your health coverage. Luckily, federal law requires that most group health plans give people an opportunity to continue their health coverage after being laid off. You will only have about 2 months to act on this opportunity so be sure you take the required steps in order to keep your coverage.
First, be sure to check with your former employer about COBRA services, which guarantee the continuation of your health care plan within a certain time frame. Again, it’s federal law, so if such services aren’t offered, be sure to ask for an explanation.
Review any forms you’re given, including any Continuation of Coverage Notices, because these will spell out the conditions of your coverage and what it will cost to continue.
Send any required forms and make sure all the information you give is correct.
Usually, coverage will last until you find another form of coverage. You may want to do this as soon as possible as your COBRA option may be a bit expensive. Still, it’s better than not having any coverage so do what you can to remain insured.

Are you wondering why your health insurance is so expensive? There are a number of factors that can raise the cost of your health insurance, so be sure you’re aware of what they are.
Three of the most important factors that can affect the cost of your coverage are physical condition, occupation, and health habits, such as drinking and smoking. While you may not be in direct control of some of these factors, you can control others. For instance, if you’re a heavy drinker, that can bump up the cost of your coverage significantly. Work on being more health conscious and you may see the cost of your health plan adjust.
Other factors include age, medical history, and family history. Again, you can’t control much of this information, but you can research different types of plans that may be more considerate of difficult circumstances.
The internet is a great and valuable source of information, so use it to find links on health plans, hospitals, doctors, and other health information that could make the difference when you need it.

Millions of Americans are uninsured, and of those who are, many face losing their insurance if they come to be laid off. But just what options are there available for those who lose their health coverage?
Most uninsured people opt for spousal coverage. This guarantees that they’ll be covered through their husband or wife’s plan if something should occur. Though a great option for those who may not have any other option, spousal coverage can be limited and is not ideal. There is also a large number of company health insurance plans that do not offer spousal coverage so for many people this may not be an option.
There are also private health plans, such as Blue Shield, but these can be expensive, especially for those who have recently lost their jobs. These can also be limited in their coverage, though you are usually free to choose just which type of coverage you may be looking for.
Finally, there are state and federal health plans that offer coverage to people with special conditions. These include senior citizens, young children, people with chronic illnesses, or people who are suffering extreme financial hardship.
However, for those that don’t fall within those conditions, the options are limited. But do what you can to get coverage. If there’s an avenue you haven’t explored, try it today since the right health coverage could save your life.
